About me
I left school at 15, without any qualifications and after years of low paid, unfulfilling jobs, I realised that life had to change. I learnt to drive, went to night school and then studied at Leeds Metropolitan University as a mature student where I gained an honours degree. After completing my university degree, I continued to study and gained several qualifications in counselling and complementary therapies. This experience showed me that no matter what life throws at us, anything is possible.
As we all know, life is never plain sailing and over the years I’ve faced redundancy, illness, bereavement, plus all the usual doubts and insecurities that we each have to deal with from time to time. But through a combination of self-belief, hard work and the support of others, I have been able to successfully steer through life’s twists and turns and I now enjoy helping others do the same.
I live and work in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire and have been counselling and coaching people for 15 years. I work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) code of ethics.
As well as working with individuals, I also work with businesses and have created stress management programmes for national building societies, housing associations and care homes. I have designed courses and lectured in counselling for Leeds Metropolitan University and North Yorkshire Community Education.
As an Associate of Oasis Human Relations, I facilitated courses and workshops throughout the country. I have also facilitated workshops in the USA.
